                                 Once Saved, Always Saved

How to receive salvation is outlined on the page of the website of its title. Once one has given their life over into the hands of the Almighty God, God looks after it thereafter.

There are some people expressing their view over the internet that indeed, salvation can be lost. Provided here are the verses of God’s Word which give you His view of the matter. The Holy Spirit is the teacher of the church and He will build upon the foundation which He has already given you, to add and provide you more truth. Seek Him for what you are to do with His Word outlined here..

John 3:3  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4  Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5  Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6  That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7  Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.   Verses 5 - 6, first man must be born of “water”, that is, have a human birth; then he must be born “again” by the Spirit, without which he cannot enter the Kingdom of God. Can someone who is born, ever be UNborn?

Ephesians 1:13  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14  Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. Once you have acknowledged Jesus, and His life, and more importantly, you have begun to TRUST in Him as your Lord, you are sealed by God the Holy Spirit, and He has the power to keep that which He seals.

Ephesians 4:30  And grieve (make sad, disappoint) not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. In other words, in giving the Lordship of our lives to Jesus, we need to obey what God the Holy Spirit tells us to do, and repent when we don’t.

2Corinthians  5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Here the Word says we become a new creature; can one go back to the “old things”, go back to the “old creature”? Would one want to?

1Corinthians 12:13  For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body (the Body of Christ), whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Romans 2:29  But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. Circumcision of the heart happens when one is born of the Spirit; the Holy Spirit of God takes up residence in our heart. Our spirit is united with the Holy Spirit. It is the fulfillment of the New Covenant: Hebrews 10:16  This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; The only way that happens is when the Holy Spirit is resident within the believer’s heart. Consider: with the Holy Spirit, there is no “rebooting” the system; He never needs to be “updated”; He never needs to have additional storage added to “the cloud”; and He never shuts down nor sleeps; the Holy Spirit is always up, ready and available.

Here are the verses used by those who say salvation can be lost:

Hebrews 6:4  For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5  And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6  If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

Some definitions of words in verse 4 help to understand:

Enlightened = bring to light, render evident, give light. Tasted = to try, make trial of…the heavenly gift, Made = to become, begin to be, be made….., Partakers = sharing in, by implication an associate, a sharer,….. participant in the Holy Ghost.

Definitions indicate that none of the above was solid fact, more a trial type event. The book of Hebrews was written to the Jews who came over to see what the Christianity was all about, but then began to miss the rituals of the Torah and the sacrifices, and they returned to the Old Law, the Tanakh…..as noted in the following….

1John 2:19  They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us –meaning they were never of us.  Anyone born of the Holy Spirit, sealed by the Holy Spirit, and anointed with the Holy Spirit cannot willfully sin and enjoy it - the Spirit will let him know His displeasure.

The Born Again experience provides you with the Holy Spirit of God taking up permanent residence within you. 1John 2:27  But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.  Let the Holy Spirit lead you into the truth. John 14-16 explains all that the Holy Spirit will do for you.
